In a battle for the hearts and minds of the Nigerian people, Rufai Oseni, a TV presenter and anchor at Arise TV, has been relentless in his efforts to undermine the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his governing APC party. Oseni, who describes himself as "obedient," has been accused of releasing a barrage of media propaganda, seemingly sponsored by the opposition, to sow seeds of doubt and discontent among the populace.
Oseni's former alignment with the Endsars movement has not gone unnoticed either. In the aftermath of the protests, which sadly resulted in the loss of lives, destruction of properties, and political blackmail, Oseni has made no secret of his contempt for the APC. With mounting frustration and a lack of adept personnel to tackle this media firestorm, the governing party finds itself ill-equipped to confound Oseni's divisive narratives, which threaten to engulf the nation.
Fortunately, the APC does possess a formidable figure capable of taking on Oseni and reining in his incendiary rhetoric. Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, renowned for his media prowess, spearheaded the special media operations for the successful Tinubu/Shettima campaign council. Fani-Kayode's masterful handling of the opposition during the campaigns kept them off-balance, ensuring the ruling party remained in control of the narrative.
However, the current predicament sees the APC perpetually on the defensive, forced to counter a relentless onslaught of misinformation, propaganda, and outright falsehoods perpetuated by the likes of Rufai Oseni and his cohorts. It is high time for President Tinubu to take a closer look at bringing Fani-Kayode back into the fold, leveraging his expertise to save the party and the government from the clutches of Rufai and other opposition agents seeking to dismantle progress with their dangerous web of fake news.
As the saying goes, "a stitch in time saves many." Now more than ever, with the stability and future of the nation at stake, decisive action is required to combat misinformation and safeguard the nation's prosperity and aspirations.
