Troops Rescue 17 Kidnapped Victims, Recover Cattles In Zamfara

In an ongoing operation in Zamfara state, the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation HADARIN DAJI has once again demonstrated its unwavering dedication and achieved remarkable success. Through intensified fighting and offensive patrols, the troops have successfully thwarted kidnapping attempts, rescued 17 victims, and recovered a substantial number of rustled cattle.

On September 14, 2023, the Joint troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI swiftly responded to a distress call in Zamfara state. Their prompt action led to the foiling of a kidnapping attempt, the rescue of two victims, and the recovery of a commercial vehicle carrying food supplies near corner Jollof in Shinkafi LGA.

Equally impressive, while on a routine patrol, ground troops deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Danjigba intercepted and rescued three kidnapped victims. These individuals had been forcibly taken from their farmlands and held captive in the Dangajeru forest. Thankfully, they were able to escape due to the relentless clearance operation carried out by the troops in the area.

In another operation on September 13, 2023, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI intercepted and rescued eight kidnapped victims in Baggega, Zamfara state. The preliminary investigation revealed that these individuals had been in captivity for a staggering eight weeks. Fortunately, they were able to escape from Gando forest, thanks to the recent offensive operations and constant fighting patrols in the vicinity of the forest.

Furthermore, on September 12, 2023, acting on actionable intelligence regarding the movement of numerous rustled animals by bandits around Tsamiyar Gezozi in Anka LGA, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI swiftly responded. With their superior firepower, they engaged the bandits, forcing them to flee and abandon over 130 rustled animals. These recovered animals have been handed over to the appropriate authority for the purpose of returning them to their rightful owners.

Similarly, on September 11, 2023, in response to a distress call reporting armed bandits kidnapping individuals in Bunkasau village, troops immediately mobilized with a superior display of firepower. The bandits were left with no choice but to abandon their victims and flee in disarray. Consequently, four male victims were rescued unharmed.

All of the kidnapped victims who were rescued have been successfully reunited with their families. In addition, the recovered cattle have been handed over to the Zamfara state committee responsible for such cases, ensuring their safe return to their rightful owners.

During the week of September 11-15, 2023, the troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI in Zamfara state can proudly claim two foiled kidnapping attempts, the rescue of 17 victims, and the recovery of 130 cattle. These remarkable achievements serve as a testament to their unwavering commitment and dedication to combatting crime in the region.

Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander Operation HADARIN DAJI and General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Nigerian Army, has expressed his deep appreciation for the tireless efforts and unwavering commitment of the troops in rescuing the victims. He has urged them to remain vigilant and continue their offensive operations, effectively denying criminals the freedom to carry out their actions.

General Mutkut reassured the people of the troops' continuous intensity and patrols in the assigned Areas of Responsibility. Furthermore, he called on the public to provide timely information to support the troops in their mission.
