Kaduna State - In a significant operation targeting sponsors and perpetrators of crime, troops from Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have successfully uncovered a gun manufacturing factory in Kafanchan, Jema'a Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The operation, dubbed "Hakorin Damisa IV," resulted in the recovery of 26 weapons, combat gears, and a cache of ammunition.

After a week of intelligence gathering, troops captured Napoleon John, a wanted gunrunner who had been on OPSH's wanted list. John confessed to his crimes and led the troops to a concealed factory where another miscreant named Monday Dunia sold arms of various calibers. Dunia admitted to being involved in the illicit business for over five years, fueling conflicts in Kaduna and neighboring Plateau states.

During a thorough search of the factory, the troops seized 22 different weapons, including pistols, locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, military-grade AK-47 rifles, revolvers, a submachine gun, rounds of special ammunition, and various tools and equipment used in the manufacturing process. Furthermore, in a subsequent raid at Adua 1 village in Kafanchan, additional weapons and ammunition were recovered.

The haul from the Adua 1 raid included two AK-47 rifles, two revolver rifles, live rounds of ammunition, dangerous daggers, a hacker axe, empty bullet cases, mobile phones, identity cards, uniforms, combat gears, and other related items. The major kingpin orchestrating the syndicate remains at large but is expected to be apprehended soon.

Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the GOC/Commander of OPSH, applauded the troops for their relentless efforts and vowed to ensure the arrest of all fugitive syndicate members, holding them accountable for their actions. He warned sponsors and perpetrators of criminal activities to abandon their illicit ways and pursue lawful means of livelihood.

General AE Abubakar expressed gratitude to the general public for their unwavering support in the fight against criminality and urged them to continue providing actionable information to the troops. He assured the public that any information shared would be treated with utmost secrecy and confidentiality.

This recent operation follows a stern warning issued by General AE Abubakar during a stakeholders' engagement with traditional and religious leaders on September 10, 2023, in Zangon Kataf. The OPSH remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the region, eradicating criminal networks, and safeguarding the well-being of the local communities.
