In recent times, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the leadership of Mr. Nyesom Wike has been plagued by a rising wave of insecurity. Despite the constant threats of revocations, demolitions, and arrests, the FCT is gradually sinking into the depths of lawlessness, with kidnappers, armed robbers, and fraudsters running rampant.
What was once confined to the outskirts of Kuje, Kwali, and Abaji has now spread its menacing grip to the heart of the FCT, particularly the Abuja Municipal Area Council. The areas spanning Kabusa, Ketti, and Sheretti have become hotbeds of criminal activities, leaving residents in constant fear.
Just a few months ago, the traditional ruler of Ketti Village fell victim to a brutal kidnapping, ultimately losing his life despite the payment of a hefty ransom. Shockingly, no arrests have been made in connection with this incident, highlighting the lack of progress in combating these crimes.
The situation has become so dire that many family men in these areas are unable to find solace in their own homes, opting to sleep elsewhere out of fear for the safety of their loved ones. The once peaceful and secure neighborhoods have now become breeding grounds for criminal elements.
As the FCT continues to grapple with this growing insecurity, it is imperative that swift and effective measures be taken to restore peace and protect the lives and properties of its residents. The time for action is now, as the people of Abuja deserve to live without the constant fear of becoming victims in their own city.
