In a significant development, the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has officially ratified the expulsion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, the party's presidential candidate during the2023 general elections. This decision was reached during a crucial BoT meeting held at the prestigious Rockview Hotel in Apapa, Lagos, on Friday.

The BoT meeting concluded with the issuance of a communique, which outlined the reasons behind the expulsion and provided important details regarding the party's constitution and structure. According to the communique, the NNPP's constitution, as amended in2022, remains the governing document of the party. It further stated that no constitution amendment would be approved until after the2027 general elections. The communique also emphasized that the NNPP's Head Office is located at Plot511, Herbert Macaulay Way, Willands Plaza, Zone4, Wuse Abuja.

One of the key decisions made during the meeting was the dissolution of the Abba Kawu Ali-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the party. The NWC was deemed to have been constituted without due process and in violation of the party's constitution. Consequently, the dissolved NWC will be officially notified to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The expulsion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso from the NNPP was another significant outcome of the BoT meeting. The communique confirmed his removal from the party, highlighting the reasons behind this decision. While specific details were not provided, it is clear that the BoT found grounds for expulsion based on the party's internal regulations and guidelines.

The expulsion of a prominent figure like Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, especially considering his role as the party's presidential candidate during the2023 general elections. This development raises questions about the future direction of the NNPP and its strategies for the upcoming political landscape.

As the news of Senator Kwakwanso's expulsion spreads, political analysts and party members alike are eagerly awaiting his response and any potential legal actions he may take. The NNPP, on the other hand, will need to regroup and reassess its position in the political arena, as it moves forward without its former presidential candidate.

The NNPP's decision to expel Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso marks a significant turning point in the party's history. It remains to be seen how this expulsion will impact the party's future and its ability to attract support in the upcoming elections.
