In a bid to prevent the impending nationwide strike set to commence on October3, the Federal Government has urgently called for an emergency meeting with the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).

Reliable sources have revealed that the meeting is scheduled to take place later this evening at the Conference Room of the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, located in Aso Villa.

Initially planned for12 noon today, the meeting had to be rescheduled to the evening to accommodate the need for Organised Labour to consult with their leaders who are currently outside of Abuja.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the Ministry of Labour and Employment delivered the government's invitation to the NLC and TUC earlier this morning.

The nationwide strike, which has been looming, has raised concerns among citizens and various sectors of the economy. The Federal Government's decision to convene this emergency meeting indicates its determination to find a resolution and prevent the potential disruption that the strike could cause.

The NLC and TUC, as representatives of the Nigerian workforce, have been actively engaged in negotiations with the government over several pressing issues, including the recent increase in fuel prices and electricity tariffs. The outcome of this emergency meeting could significantly impact the future course of action for both parties involved.

As the nation eagerly awaits the outcome of this crucial meeting, stakeholders and citizens alike hope for a positive resolution that will address the concerns of the labour unions while ensuring the stability and progress of the country.
