Minister of Culture, Hannatu Musawa, Faces Blackmail Attempt over NYSC Program

Disgruntled Politicians Target High-Performing Minister in Desperate Bid to Undermine her Credibility
By Mohammed Bello Doka.

In a shocking turn of events, powerful and influential individuals are once again using the media to launch a vindictive attack on Minister of Culture, Hannatu Musawa. The focus of their campaign revolves around the non-completion of her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program. However, legal experts have pointed out that this requirement for holding public office has already been debunked by a court ruling involving former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, and the Attorney General of the Federation.

The Federal High Court in Abuja, in a landmark case numbered FHC/ABJ/CS/303/2021, ruled that possessing an NYSC Certificate is not mandatory for occupying the ministerial position. Astonishingly, this ruling has not been appealed by the former Attorney General, indicating its current validity. Thus, according to the law, Hannatu Musawa is well within her rights to hold the esteemed position of Minister of Culture without an NYSC certificate.

This recent attempt to frustrate and blackmail Minister Musawa only serves to underscore the desperation of those involved. It is clear that they have been unable to find any substantial evidence against her competence, capacity, or credibility. As a result, they have stooped so low as to magnify a non-issue into a scandalous affair.

Throughout the years, Hannatu Musawa has diligently worked towards building a solid reputation based on professionalism, honesty, and integrity. It is precisely these qualities that caught the attention of President Tinubu, who selected her for the ministerial role. Her exceptional abilities have never been in question, making this targeted attack even more egregious.

In these trying times, it is crucial that we rally behind Minister Musawa and allow her the space to continue the commendable work she has begun. By supporting her, we are sending a strong message that competence and dedication should triumph over baseless attempts at character assassination. Let us unite and grant Hannatu Musawa the breathing room she deserves to fulfill her duties as Minister of Culture.
