The Leadership Excellence Awards, also known as LEEX Awards, is an annual event organized by IgbereTV. This year marked the fifth consecutive edition of the awards, designed to acknowledge and honor outstanding leaders in Nigeria's political, social, and economic spheres.
Born on August 4, 1960, in Kano State, Abdulsamad Rabiu has garnered widespread recognition for his philanthropic efforts across the African continent through the Abdulsamad Rabiu Initiative Africa (ASR Africa) foundation.
While this is his first win at the Man of the Year award category, Mr. Rabiu has previously been nominated for this accolade in the last two editions. In 2022, he lost to Peter Obi, while Obi Cubana took home the title in 2021.
Recently, the founder of BUA Group demonstrated his commitment to improving Nigeria's educational system by donating a grant of 5.5 billion naira for infrastructural development to 22 universities and other tertiary institutions. This generous contribution was made through the ASR Tertiary Education Grants Scheme.
In total, 30 Nigerian higher institutions have now benefited from this scheme, thanks to Mr. Rabiu's benevolence and desire to uplift the nation's education sector.
