The significance of the role of young people in politics and governance cannot be overstated, particularly in countries like Nigeria where a large portion of the population is below 30 years old. Having young individuals in positions of authority is advantageous as they can effectively represent the interests of the youth demographic and compete on a global scale. Dr. Adegboyega Bamisile is one such individual who has showcased strong leadership, dedication, and commitment in Nigerian politics.
Hailing from Ekiti State, Dr. Bamisile played a vital role in the All Progressives Congress' (APC) victory in the recently concluded presidential election in Nigeria. Serving as the Director of Planning, Research, and Strategy for the Bola Tinubu Support Organization (BTSO) and the National Coordinator of Better Nigeria for Asiwaju (BNA), he led supporters across the country, leaving a notable impact. These organizations were formed to advocate for a Southern Presidency, starting as early as 2019 and 2021 respectively, and to make a case for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Presidency based on principles of equity, justice, and fairness.
Under Dr. Bamisile's leadership, these elite groups achieved remarkable success. Their achievements include conflict resolution among political actors, dissemination of crucial information and narratives about the candidate through various channels, empowering over 40,000 women across the country, providing artificial limbs to people with disabilities, training and empowering artisans, distributing JAMB forms to students, voter sensitization, assisting with enrollment and collection of Permanent Voter Cards, and extending support to other states like Lagos, Kogi, Niger, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Borno, Sokoto, Kano, and Kaduna both before, during, and after the elections. These accomplishments exemplify Dr. Bamisile's commitment to uplifting the less privileged in society while showcasing his ability to effectively drive a cause to a successful conclusion, setting higher benchmarks for engagement.
Apart from his work with the BTSO, Dr. Bamisile is also a founding partner of the Arewa Organizations Movement for Asiwaju (AROMA). Within this organization, he served in advisory roles, particularly within the Media Strategy and Communications directorate, focusing on championing Asiwaju Tinubu's presidential candidacy in the 19 Northern States of the Federation. Dr. Bamisile's astuteness, loyalty, and dedication to the Asiwaju Project have been evident in his active participation in designing, planning, and executing major programs of the organization.
One noteworthy achievement under Dr. Bamisile's leadership at AROMA was the courtesy visits to all the first-class and second-class Emirs in Northern Nigeria, aimed at promoting Asiwaju's candidacy and future presidency in 2023. This effort highlights his ability to mobilize and organize grassroots support for a political cause, transcending tribal, linguistic, and religious boundaries.
Dr. Bamisile's achievements with the BTSO, BNA, and AROMA are truly impressive, demonstrating that he is a valuable asset for the Tinubu administration to consider. Asiwaju Tinubu has consistently promoted youth inclusion and empowerment within Nigeria's political space. In this regard, appointing Dr. Bamisile as a Minister in his administration would be a substantial step towards fulfilling this commitment.
Nigeria's political landscape requires young and dynamic leaders who are dedicated to advocating for the interests of the youth demographic. Dr. Adegboyega Bamisile has proven himself through his leadership, dedication, and commitment to this cause. The successful harmonization of political structures achieved through the groups he helped create reflects his ability to drive a cause to a successful conclusion.
