MURIC Criticises Call For A Christian As Communication Minister.

In response to the recent call by the Computer Guild of Nigeria (CGN) for a Christian to be appointed as the communication minister, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has expressed its strong opposition. Describing the demand as bizarre and potentially driven by ulterior motives, MURIC has called for a fair and impartial approach in the selection process.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, 15th July, 2023, MURIC emphasized its concerns regarding the demand made by CGN. The organization believes that any preference based on religious affiliation can lead to division and prejudice within the country, particularly in a sensitive sector such as communication.

Recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusivity in governance, MURIC asserts that the appointment of a communication minister should be based on merit, competence, and qualifications rather than religious considerations. They urge decision-makers to prioritize the best interests of the nation and avoid any potential discrimination that could undermine unity and harmony.

MURIC remains committed to promoting the rights of all Nigerians, regardless of their religious background. By advocating for equal opportunities and fair representation, they strive for a society that upholds the principles of justice, freedom, and equality.
