Nigerians from all walks of life have commended the Federal Government of Nigeria for ordering the destruction of a ship intercepted stealing Nigeria's crude oil.
This is not the first time the said tanker was caught stealing crude from Nigeria, but always find a way to beat the system and continue the illegal crude oil theft.
But this time around, the government of President Tinubu has shown the world and other criminal entities that Nigeria meant business in its war against oil theft which has caused the country billions of dollars.
Last week, the Federal Government ordered the destruction of a ship intercepted with 150,000 tonnes of stolen crude oil in Delta State.
The ship named, Tura II, with a capacity of 500,000 tonnes, was intercepted in the wee hours of Saturday by Tompolo's pipeline surveillance firm, Tantita Security Nigeria Ltd, stealing crude oil from a wellhead the guardian reported.
It was also learned that the ship was caught in a similar crime some ten years ago but managed to escape and changed its name to avoid detection and continue the illegal tread.
With the destruction of the ship using a controlled explosion, Nigeria has put an end to its dastardly act and this will also serve as a warning to others involved in the same crime.
What remains is a thorough investigation to unveil the owners or lenders of the ship and ensure that appropriate punishment is being mated on them to serve as a deterrent to others.
