SGF Visit: "President Tinubu is Committed to Moving Nigeria Forward" - Akume

You Can Count on our Full Support - Omole

The Secretary to Government of the Federation, Distinguished Senator George Akume, on Saturday, June 3rd 2023, said President Tinubu is committed to moving the Nation forward.

Sen. Akume said this during a congratulatory courtesy visit to his Abuja residence by Prince Ade Omole, the face of the Diaspora and his team. He urged Nigerians in the Diaspora to support the new administration and be good ambassadors for their home country.

Although Sen. Akume needs no introduction, he is a quintessential public servant, a core grassroots politician and a perfect gentleman. He served as Governor of Benue State between 1999 and 2007, making history as the first Governor of the 'Food Basket State' to complete two consecutive tenures in office. He subsequently served as a Senator of the Federal Republic, representing Benue North-West Senatorial District, from 2007 to 2019. In July 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari nominated Sen. Akume to serve in his cabinet and was assigned to head the Federal Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs and Special Duties.

Indeed, the SGF's office is the federal government's engine room, saddled with many functions. Ideally, the SGF must be someone of immense wisdom, sound judgement, versatility and enormous wealth of experience in governance, public service and administration. In his usual manner of critical thinking, the President must have considered these qualities to arrive at the choice of Sen. Akume, his visionary strides, exceptional diligence and total commitment to progressive ethos and principles.

It is a known fact that Sen. Akume has been an unrepentant loyalist of President Tinubu. In the build-up to the APC 2023 Presidential Primary Election, he made it abundantly clear to all Benue people where he stood. He never dilly-dallied on his support for a Tinubu Presidency, and he gallantly led Benue people into a resounding victory at the 2023 presidential poll, delivering Benue overwhelmingly to the APC.
