Just-In: Tinubu Swears In Akume As SGF... The Role Of SGF In Governance

By - David Peter
Minutes ago, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu swore in the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, at the Aso Villa, Abuja. Akume succeeds Boss Mustapha following the declaration of his appointment by the President during a meeting with the Progressives Governor's Forum at the Villa, last week.

The SGF is a senior government official who plays an oversight role in the executive arms of government. He coordinates and supervises the activities of the various government ministry, departments, and agencies. He also provides advice and guidance to the President and the Cabinet on policy matters and follows the implementation of government policies.

The SGF also organizes and coordinates meetings of the Federal Executive Council, the highest decision-making body of the government. He serves as a point of contact between the federal and the state government, facilitating communication and coordination between the different tiers of government.
